One day getaway to Karlsruhe

Living in Stuttgart for aprx. 1,5 year, it never stops to amaze me how many things are out there to see within 1-2 hours drive. one of them is Karlsruhe - the second biggest city in  Baden-Württemberg, which is famous for it's castle (Schloss Karlsruhe),  seat of Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Court of Justice and the university (Universität Karlsruhe, founded in 1825). but most and for all, I think, it totally pays up to it's name, which literary translates as 'Karl's repose'. and what can I say, the place is perfect for lovely peaceful walks, chilling out in the botanic gardens near the palace or simply relaxed evening in a cozy street cafe. and if you're keen on museums, there's a descent 'Landsmuseum' based right in the palace, which has a lot to offer from ancient Greek and Egyptian finds to first Nokia brick-sized cellphones, and everything possible in between:) wouldn't necessarily recommend Karlsruhe for a week-long sightseeing, but for a one-day getaway it will do just fine.

Fairy tail alive in Bavaria

When saying that every village in Germany has it's own castle, I'm not really exaggerating that much here. highly doubt that I've managed to see even half of them, though I can assure you that this Bavarian piece of #architectureporn is, if not the best, then definitely makes it to the top 3 of the most significant ones. Schloss Neuschwanstein (New Swanstone Castle) was built in 19th century by Ludwig II in the far South of Germany, not far from the Austrian border. annually this masterpiece of castle romanticism attracts hundred thousands of tourists, who are willing to go through a descent work-out climbing up the hill (the only alternative is renting a horse carriage) to pay a 35-minutes (the maximum length of excursion) visit to the royal premises or just to take numerous pictures. that's of course what I did (at least have tried struggling the weather) using all of my devices, attempting to capture the famous silhouette, cause for the majority Neuschwanstein is known as a prototype to the...scroll down and try to guess ;)

Düsseldorf

A thing I love about Germany is that it's not a country with a famous capital and other places that no one ever heard of. all of its big cities are totally different and stand out in their own way. one of them is of course Düsseldorf, which was on my 'travel list' for some time now. so finally in January I had a chance to find out for myself that the place is indeed worth to visit and is definitely one of the best that I've ever been to. so what does Düsseldorf feel like? located right next to Belgium and Netherlands, you can feel it's northern style the very first moment you come here, it shows in the architecture, the way people dress (and that's what I first look at when coming to a new city hah) and of course the weather (you will have to learn coping with strong winds thanx to the river Rhine). what makes it special? as Düsseldorf plays a role of one of the business and fashion centres in Germany, the city has a strong touch of design and modernity, thus makes a perfect mix of a state of art and 19th century buildings, high-end boutiques and vintage shops, most expensive chick restaurants and small one-of-a kind street cafes. a cherry on top - the prosperous embankment along Rhine which offers a spectacular view at the Rheinturm (TV tower). xxx

(Rheinturm). xxx

One of my favourite terraces

Don't know about you, but all I wanna do when it's abruptly getting colder is to stay at home, wrapped in a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa and think about lovely things, like this amazing terrace (yes, I've told you terraces are my big love) on the Stuttgart's shopping center rooftop on the main street (Königstraße). to be more precise, it's a real city beach with sand, plams, deck chairs and wooden pathes, and all this is named Sky Beach Stuttgart. during the summertime people come here to relax, to tan, to spend some quality time with friends sipping prosecco (or whatever), watch the live shows or just to admire the breathtaking view over the night city. when it's cold, there's not as much parties, but you can still celebrate a New Year's Eve here for instance. and what about you, do you have your favourite terraces?

My life in Germany

So continuing my story named 'Where I've spent the last 3 monthes', I can finally tell you (if you still didn't find it out from the Instagram haha) that it was Germany, Stuttgart to be more concrete. the city of Mercedes and Porsche, situated in the South, it is the 6th largest in the country and is unexpectadly very green. despite the fact that the place is known as Germany's heart of automobile industry, at a closer look you can find some enternatining things too, like sunsets (yes, those are ones of the best I've ever seen), funicular (Standseilbahn Stuttgart) remaining the same since 1929, numerous saunas and swimming pool complexes, public gardens, shopping areas and of course never ending festivals. also there's a high possibility to meet someone from your own country - 25% of population are foreigners. ok, so maybe these pictures do not represent the whole city, but more posts are coming soon)

A day in Zurich

After being absent for 3 monthes, I've really missed blogging, so I'm back to work) all this time I've spent in Europe, sans fashion shows and social event, but full of impressions and colourful emotions, and that's what I'm going to tell you about step by step. so the first stop after crossing the Schengen border (Ukraine is still not there) was Switzerland - the country of cheese, chocolate and watches. I've always wanted to visit thу place, but Zurich was never the city that came up to my mind, though half of the day spent there was more than enough to understand that I have to come back to this beauty, to ride the trams going between the impressive old builldings, have a lazy coffee admiring the Lake Zurich and seat at the street cafe looking at the passers by.

Le Negresco

Today I felt like it's time to continue sharing my impressions about the breathtakingly beautiful French Riviera, and here's to your pleasure the one of a kind building, the symbol of Nice - hotel Negresco. well, I didn't atach these pictures to the previous post about Cote d'Azur (Azure Coast) for a reason, the place is absolutely unique. and to be honest, I've only decided to enter the massive doors under the iconic pink dome only the 3rd time I was here in Nice, and immediately regreted I didn't do it а few years ago. the thing is, when you come to this enlivening and sunny city, the last thing you think of is spending your time "breathing in the old dust" in the museums, and Negresco is a perfect solution - it's not taking you away from the fresh air and the sea (it is situated right on the Promenade des Anglais), at the same time it is full of Dali works, curious sculptures and beautiful interior design. you can sip a glass of champagne under the spectacular Baccarat chandelier with 16,309 crystals, that was originaly meant to be owned by Czar Nicholas II, explore each floor of the hotel, each of them is styled differently or you can use an elevator just to feel yourself acting in Pinocchio fairy tale (at least thats what I felt, haha), where the inner walls are upholstered in purple velvet and the door holder looks like a huge golden key. not to mention that while being there you are constantly thinking of the famous people like the Beatles, Disney, Picasso, Chanel, Gagarin and others who were staying in Negresco during it's 100 years history.

Long weekend in Lviv. part 1

Despite the fact that the 3 days were spent in western part of Ukraine and not somewhere abroad, a constant feeling of being far away from Kiev, was following us like a travel guide during the excursion. well, probably the answer to this is the architecture of the Old Europe, a great quantity of foreigners, who 'invaded' Lviv over the weekend and frequent polish names. or maybe, it's just that we don't do that much of walking in our city center, sightseeing and eating...oh yes, when you are in Lviv, it's simply impossible not to eat at least for 2 hours. all those cafes, confectioneries and bakeries seduce you every time.
